I’ve been tutoring A-Level Biology for six years, mostly with students who understand the science but struggle to turn that knowledge into marks. I spend quite a bit of time on data analysis, practical questions and getting used to the wording examiners expect. Genetics is probably my favourite area to teach. I also make my own question sets when past papers don’t give us enough practice on a particular topic.

Hi! I’m a Biology tutor with a background in biochemistry and around four years of A-Level teaching experience. I’m happiest teaching cells, enzymes and anything molecular, though I know those topics can get confusing quickly. My lessons are fairly relaxed: we’ll talk through the science first, sketch things out if needed, then see whether you can explain it back before moving onto exam questions.

My background is in biotechnology, and I have taught A-Level Biology privately for more than seven years. I work particularly closely with students preparing for their final exams, where accurate terminology and careful interpretation of questions become very important. I tend to use diagrams for respiration, photosynthesis and genetics, followed by short exam tasks so we can spot exactly where marks are being lost.

I started tutoring Biology while completing my degree and enjoyed it enough that I carried on afterwards. Five years later, I mainly teach A-Level students online. I’m a bit of an ecology enthusiast, so populations and ecosystems are always enjoyable lessons for me, but I also spend plenty of time on the less popular bits like respiration! I like students to bring questions from school so we can work from what they actually need.

I have a degree in Genetics and eight years of experience supporting A-Level Biology students. Much of my work centres on helping students connect topics rather than learning each chapter separately. Gene expression, inheritance and cell division make far more sense once those links are clear. Closer to exams, I shift the emphasis towards unfamiliar data, longer written responses and careful use of mark-scheme terminology.

Biology clicked for me once I stopped trying to memorise whole pages and started drawing out what was actually happening. That still influences how I tutor today. I’ve worked with A-Level students for three years and use plenty of quick diagrams, questions and verbal explanations in lessons. Human physiology is my favourite part of the course, particularly immunity and the nervous system. I’m also happy to revisit a topic several times if it needs it.
